Interior view of the circular Reception Space - jagged passageways branch off left & right to represent the state of change the body inhabits when experiencing therapy. 
Reception Space represents the expressive angular forms of the Fire element.
Teppan-yaki style dining room - various levels references the social hierarchy that exists in Japanese culture and fine cuisine.
The art of light and shadow played an imperative role in the dynamism of this design. Because the natural light filtering through the etched glass panels were constantly changing, this meant that the space would take on different moods depending on the time of the day.
This piece was inspired by the 8 I-Ching symbols depicted on lucky Chinese coins. The various configurations symbolize a different message to the unique person wearing the jewellery. Materials used consist of red & gold ribbon, moulding clay, black, white & gold paint, varnish & bamboo.
This necklace represents the (8) parts that makes up a whole, all connected together by a flowing strand of red & gold (family).
My very first interior-directed project called for the designing of an existing state house for NZ Chinese immigrants. For my inspiration I sought to immerse myself, for the first time, in Chinese Feng-Shui theory and culture.
Through reconfiguring the interior space I was able to devise a space that was nearly entirely in harmony with Feng Shui Principles. Every room was given the most appropriate east-west facing relationship to the sun, and the bold colour palatte was even chosen in relationship the unique auspicioius colours for each room.
The linear decor throughout the interior and exterior makes reference to the natural energy or "chi" that flows through the space in order to keep a positive living environment.
